As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another. Welcome back to the Iron Saints podcast with your host, Dan Willis. Welcome back, Saints. It's a new day, new week. We're going to get right back into Luke today. Huge shout out to everybody who's been listening in the first eight episodes. We have broken through the 100 download mark, which is maybe a small milestone for some of you guys, but just knowing that there's been 100 people that have benefited from sitting down and doing a daily devotional, it means an awful lot. I'm excited about where this is going to go, guys. But without further ado, let's get down to it. Heading back into Loop today. I'm excited to see where we go. Let's do this. All right, we're finally there, guys. Today is the day of the Gates, the genealogy of Christ. Now, I know for a lot of you guys, the genealogies tend to be fairly humdrum. You get a little bit bored with what's going on here, but understand that this is so important, guys. These genealogies aren't just there for the sake of us knowing whose dad was whose dad was whose dad, but it shows us that God had a plan and a purpose for Christ from all the way back in the beginning. Now, Luke goes all the way back to Adam, which is just a huge mind bending understanding of God had this plan from the very beginning. Every name that falls into this path, this genealogy of one man to another to another to another to another, we see names popping up, like David and Judah and Joshua, Elliezer. We see all kinds of amazing names popping here, like Amos. All of these people build into Christ's coming. And if that doesn't get you excited about how God's promises are true, I don't know what will. But let's sit down. Let's go through this. We'll read it. As always, I'm reading from the ESV. You're welcome to follow along with whatever translation you want. If you're on the road, if you're at the office, don't worry, I'm going to read it to you. But let's get down to it here. So Luke, chapter three, verse 23 is where we're going to get going. Jesus, when he began his ministry, was about 30 years of age, being the son, as was supposed, of Joseph, the son of Heli, the son of Matthat, the son of Levi, the son of Melkai, the son of Janai, the son of Joseph, the son of Matthias, the son of Anus, the son of Nahum, the son of Eslie, the son of Nagai, the son of Mask, the son of Matthias, the son of Semen. The son of Joseph, the son of Jodha, the son of Joanan, the son of Reza, the son of Zerafabel, the son of Shelter, the son of Nari, the son of Melkai, the son of Addi, the son of Cosm, the son of Almadan, the son of Ur, the son of Joshua, the son of Ellie, Isaac, the son of Jorah, the son of Matat, the son of Levi, the son of Simeon, the son of Judah, the son of Joseph, the son of Jonah, the son of Elliekem, the son of Malaya, the son of Menna, the son of Matthew, the son of Nathan, the son of David, the son of Jesse, the son of Obed, the son of Boaz, the son of Salah, the son of Naishan, the son of Minadab, the son of Admin, the son of Arni, the son of Hezron, the son of Perez, the son of Judah, the son of Jacob, the son of Isaac, the son of Abraham, the son of Terah, the son of Nahor, the son of Sarah, the son of Ru, the son of Peleg, the son of Ebert, the son of Shala, the son of Canaan, the son of Arphaad, the son of Shem, the son of Noah, the son of Lamech, the son of Methuselah, the son of Enoch, the son of Jared, the son of Mahalia, the son of Canaan, the son of Enos, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God. 2s Alright, there it is. We're through. All the suns of the big gaps are there now, guys, as I mentioned, this is a great reassurance as far as prophecy goes, but that's not where I want you to take this away. We also get another promise from God that those who are faithful to the Lord, those who raise up their homes knowing the Lord will see blessing for generations and generations and generations. How beautiful is it to see here that those names of men of God, men that followed enoch, Noah, David, Jesse, Obed, Boas, all of these men who are good Godly men, who raise up their family to know the Lord, see the blessings of the Lord from generation to generation, following them long after they passed all the way to the point of Christ. This is the challenge I want to give you men today. Do you know the Lord? I hope you do. I hope you're listening to this and you know the Lord. Are you devoted to the Lord? And that's part of the devotional, right? That's part of what we're doing here is showing devotion to the Lord in our daily time that we carve out to dive into his word, to have conversations with them, to pray with Him. And then most of all, are you sharing that devotion that you have with the Lord, with your family, with your wives, with your children? Please take the time, guys. If you're not doing that, realize the blessing for the generations to come if you share the Lord with your family. First and foremost. Yeah, evangelism is important in the world. I'm not discounting that at all. But if you are not seeing that passion for the Lord in your own home, if you're not encouraging your own family to be believers, then you've really got to dial in because we can see here the blessings of the Lord provides for those that know the Lord and share it with their families from generation to generation. All right, gentlemen, it is time to pray. As always, guys, if you have prayer requests, please look in the description below. You can reach out to me on any of the social media channels as well as my email directly if you have a prayer request. Prayers are always done under pseudonyms or first name only to ensure that the privacy is still there for you, your family, whoever you have been praying for. But I do want to pray with you guys every day. Before we go, I would like to pray for you guys directly if you have things that are going on that need help with. So, Lord, thank you so much for today. Thank you for the big gaps. Thank you that you do care for us generation after generation after generation, especially when we turn to you and teach you to our children. Lord, I just pray for Phil. Phil is going through a really hard time right now with pains in his arms. He's a worship director. Lord, I pray that you would have your hand of healing on him, help him to be able to perform his tasks diligently and glorifying you in them without pain, without hesitation. I left the John to you, Lord, who's still struggling with cancer. Thank you so much for Tom's wife who is finally home, Lord, from the hospital. They were able to celebrate their anniversary. Thank God for that. 1s You are an amazing healer, Lord. Thank you that you were able to bring her home. Lord, I lift up any of the unheard prayers that you might have on your heart right now. The men that listen to this, the saints that are listening to this, Lord, please just lift up their unspoken prayers. I just pray that taking a look at Your word on these devotions is bringing them closer to you. Lord, I pray that you would do a work on their hearts. Thank you so much for all the blessings that you show us. Thank you for your word, Lord. Your name. We pray that's it guys. Have an amazing day.
